The Ball

An evening for the people behind Vienna's hospitality

Day after day, restaurateurs, hoteliers, chefs, service professionals and countless partners across the industry create the experiences Vienna is known for far beyond its borders. On 28 January 2027, they take centre stage themselves.

The Wiener Ball der Gastronomie combines classic Viennese ball culture with cuisine, conversation and contemporary entertainment. It gives the full breadth of the industry a stage — from the long-established family business to the young restaurant, from the hotel to the supplier, from the apprentice to the seasoned executive.

  • Hosts become guests

One night where what matters is not the working day, but celebrating together.

  • An industry comes together

A meeting point for restaurants, hotels, tourism, business and partner companies.

  • Viennese tradition, rethought

Ball culture with character, pleasure and a contemporary view of the people who shape how Vienna hosts.

Running order

From the festive reception to the farewell treat

Seven moments carry the night — from the reception and the ceremonial opening to the “Garden of Temptation”, the midnight show and a culinary farewell.

  1. Doors and reception

As the doors open, Palais Auersperg welcomes its guests to a very special ball night. A festive reception and the first culinary surprises await from the moment they arrive.

  2. Ceremonial opening

    Opening

The first ball of Viennese gastronomy is officially opened with a ceremonial opening, where Viennese ball tradition meets the creativity, diversity and joie de vivre of Austria's hospitality scene. Details of the opening and the performing artists will follow.

  3. The “Garden of Temptation” opens

From 10:00 pm the winter garden opens its doors and turns into a mysterious party floor. The red apple as the symbol of temptation, dark staging, extraordinary walking acts and selected moments of indulgence meet DJ sounds and a very special late-night atmosphere. The “Garden of Temptation” then stays open until the end of the ball night.

  4. Throughout the evening

    Shows and themed worlds

The palace's rooms become their own themed worlds of entertainment and indulgence, with musical performances, special walking acts, surprise show moments and culinary discoveries. Early ideas include, alongside the “Garden of Temptation”, an elegant casino and spirits lounge and a gourmet mile with selected partner businesses and producers.

  5. Midnight show

    Highlight

A special show moment forms the highlight of the ball night. The exact programme and performing artists will be announced.

  6. After midnight

    Party and late-night programme

After the midnight show, the dancing and celebrating continue throughout the palace. DJ sounds, further surprises and a late-night culinary offering accompany guests into the early hours.

  7. End of the ball

    A culinary farewell

To close the night, a small culinary farewell treat for the way home is planned.
